Destiny 2 players are always seeking out what the best loadout is for the activities they are playing. It could be for high-level endgame activities like the raids or strikes like the Nightfall with modifiers that make enemies more deadly. The snipers here are broken up by activity category as well as Round Per Minute (RPM) fire rate to highlight what they do best and where.

PVE - High Damage Output and Boss Killing Power

Izanagi’s Burden - The exotic sniper from the forge quest line this sniper hits hard and uses special ammo. The amount of DPS that this sniper can deliver while using Honed Edge x4 is staggering and makes it a must-have for the raid and other PvE activities. With the new unlock on the Season of Dawn seasonal artifact Enhanced Sniper Loader, this weapon will become even more deadly.

Sole Survivor - With this sniper, players will need to farm for the right perk roll, but once the perfect role is obtained it will mow down any PvE boss. The perks that need to be on this weapon are Firing Line, Triple Tap, Back-up Mag, and Appended Mag. This perk combination will allow the player to fir shot after shot after shot without reloading. This sniper will also benefit from the Enhanced Sniper Loader perk on the seasonal artifact.

Whisper of the Worm - This sniper has seen many iterations and been known by a few names including Black Hammer, Black Spindle, and now Whisper of the Worm. The perk White Nail allows players to fire this weapon constantly without reloading as long as they are hitting their precision hits. With the nerf that came to White Nail it can no longer create ammo from precision hits but as long as players are grabbing their power (heavy) ammo they will be able to knock down bosses in raids and Nightfall strikes with ease.

PVP - One Hit Knock Outs on Headshots

72-90 RPM

A low RPM sniper in the crucible is a deadly weapon with a skilled hand. The high damage that these weapons provide means they are going to be able to take out Supers with a headshot as well as any enemy that gets hit with them. Some players will use these as a way of controlling lanes and respawns in certain game modes while others have a playstyle where they will hit a body shot to weaken the other player and “clean-up” the kill with another weapon like a hand cannon or a pulse rifle.

Sole Survivor - Back from the PvE list is the Sole Survivor. A little different perk roll this time though. For PvP players are going to want to lower the zoom on the scope and grab the Snapshot perk. Reducing the Aim Down Sights (ADS) speed can be the difference in securing the kill and getting killed. At 90 RPM it also packs enough punch to get through the extra armor of roaming Supers as well as over shields.

Beloved - Easily farmable to get the right perks from the menagerie the Beloved has a good short zoom scope and higher base stats than the Sole Survivor. One of the best 90 RPM snipers to get. Snapshot is going to a must-have perk on this weapon to decrease the ADS time and then any other perk like Outlaw or No Distractions can really make this weapon shine in the Crucible.

Revoker - The Crucible pinnacle sniper is another amazing weapon to use. The only downside for this weapon is getting it. Having to snipe that much will turn some players off from obtaining the weapon, but once the quest is done the weapon has an insane perk combo. The Reversal of Fortune will return some missed shots to the reserves making it a very powerful weapon in the current special weapon economy. Revoker also has incredibly high aim assist for a low RPM sniper so missing shots and using the perk will be few and far between.

Silicon Neuroma - A 72 RPM sniper from the Pyramidion Nightfall this weapon will obliterate anything that gets hit in the head. Guardians roaming the map in super will be knocked out with one well-placed headshot. Guardians with over shield either from revives or the One-Eyed Mask will be taken out with one headshot. Also, any Guardian deciding to peek a lane at the same time as this weapon will be taken out with this weapon. The super high impact makes clean up kills incredibly easy as well. If players miss the headshot they will easily be able to finish off with any weapon they have switched to. The curated roll on this weapon is near perfect with Accurized Rounds and Snapshot and barreling that can help the recoil and range. If the aim is right this sniper will demolish anything unfortunate enough to walk into its sights.

140 RPM

This archetype of sniper is seen in the Crucible as spam because they can reward not as accurate players with kills because they were able to get two shots off in the time other snipers would only be able to fire once. These can not take a Super out with a single headshot but unless players never miss a headshot supers in Destiny 2 are incredibly hard to hit because of their speed and mobility options like spamming Shoulder Charge,  spamming dodge, or using the spinning block from the middle tree in Arcstrider.

Twilight Oath - One of the first sought after 140 RPM snipers in the game it is still a force to reckoned with. It has the lowest zoom scope for all of these snipers but the curated roll is the one to shoot for and that roll is notoriously hard to get. Some players are going to get it on their first try while others will have to try over and over again dealing with less than stellar rolls on an overall good weapon.

Supremacy - A little easier to get but only with a raid team without one unlocking this weapon will be a bit of a chore. Obtained from the Last Wish raid Supremacy requires some chests to be unlocked or it can be obtained from any encounter in the raid. With random rolls on this weapon, it is going to difficult to get the perks players want, but any Supremacy with Snapshot is going to be a good option. If possible getting another perk that will help aim assist will make this weapon something special.

Apostate - This is one of the best snipers in the game. It is easily obtainable from the Altar of Sorrows during sniper rifle day. It has some of the highest aim assist on any sniper in the game, can fire super fast, and farming for it is a breeze. If players are aim gods and never miss a single shot they are going to out slay almost every other player in the game using a different sniper.

While any sniper in the game can work for the right player with the right perks these snipers rank the highest purely off base stats and how easy they are to get in the game.

Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
